Mr Richard Wright

Executive Headteacher

I am proud to be the Executive Headteacher of Kirkby Malham and Settle CE Primary Schools. They are two wonderful schools that I have come to know very well as I have been the headteacher of one or the other these last seventeen years! I am especially excited to be appointed in my current role as I previously served as the Headteacher of Kirkby Malham Primary School from 2001-2004. I have lots of fond memories. It was a time when our school was praised by Ofsted for being Highly Effective and the staff and I were presented with an Achievement Award for the standards achieved and the progress made by our pupils. Our small school was recognised by a National Newspaper as being one of the top thirty small schools in the country and our results were among the very best in the County. During my tenure we were cited by author Bill Bryson as being the 'best small school in the universe'.

I rejoin the school at an exciting time in its development and I am delighted to once again be a part of such a special community. I am also thrilled that some of my former staff (Mrs Allen, Mrs Cawood and Mrs Milner) are still with us and that we now have tremendous new additions to the team who offer so much expertise and commitment to our small school. I look forward to taking the school forward and to many exciting times ahead.

Mrs Amanda Allen

Assistant Headteacher

Class 2 Teacher

I have enjoyed teaching at this school for many years. It is a real pleasure to see how the children develop and grow, giving them a great foundation for when they move on to the next stage of their education.  the children here are a joy to teach, they are enthusiastic and hard working and make coming to work a pleasure.

Working in such a beautiful location is a true privilege.

Away from school I enjoy Ballroom and Latin dancing.

. Mr John Bell

Class 3 Teacher

Working in such a beautiful and exciting location is an absolute pleasure. Our children have wonderfully curious minds and with such a rich learning environment all around us, it is always a delight to guide them on their learning journey and help them reach their goals.

In my spare time, I enjoy listening to and playing music, reading, cooking and enjoying the great outdoors with my family.

 Mrs Julie Middleton

Class 1 Teacher

It is a delight to teach in this lovely dales school with such enthusiastic children , parents and staff. I feel very lucky to share each child’s achievements and encourage their ambition and belief in themselves.
I particularly love spending time with the children in our amazing Forest area and witness the huge impact this inspiring outdoor experience has on each child’s unique learning journey.
Out of school I enjoy keeping fit, baking and travelling.

Mrs Christine Eccleston

School Administrator

I enjoy the lovely happy atmosphere at Kirkby Malham school and working with the children and staff.  I also enjoy my drive to and from school – rush hour consisting of half-a-dozen highland cattle ambling along the road.

Outside school I enjoy yoga and walking my dog.  I also have four grandchildren who keep me quite busy.

Mrs Ali Milner

School Administrator

Being the school's administrator is a fantastic job I have enjoyed for many years.  I meet lots of different people who come into our school, but I especially love helping the children when they need it.  In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog, cooking and socialising!

Miss Sarah Harrison

I have worked in education for over 10 years - 7 of those I have had the pleasure of working with children with Special Educational Needs. I find my job extremely rewarding, especially when a child has the 'light bulb' moment. Working in such a lovely school with beautiful surroundings makes coming to work thoroughly enjoyable. Outside of work I enjoy running, walking and travelling. I also spend my time volunteering for Manorlands Hospice - a charity that is very close to my heart.
